Unfortunately Mate in my opinion it’s unsafe to do this because you are topping up what is evaporated off. Your tds climb slowly but surely if you are just topping up your tanks overtime and this will eventually affect your fish and plants negatively.

You should do 3 same size aquariums of biotopes from 3 different regions around the world. For example you could have an amazon river biotope, north american biotope, and a river itchen biotope

Plants are growing really well with my ph 7.5. Only downside out of my 2 tanks is my scaper 45 light is kinda * The beacon is lit!* so I have a problem with hair algea too as hardly any fish. Got ottos, orange corys, baby Amano shrimp ( until big enough for main tank ) and snails. KH 5, GH 12. Nothing but plants 😂 Temp currently 26 oC

You’re such a bull 💩. There was ammonia in your water, hence the reading. I could see it before you even pointed it out, as been using API test kit for well over a decade. If you ammonia straight from source, I suggest you contact your water board.

I LOVE my Venezuelan cories. They're the friendliest fish I have in the tank besides the alpha female guppy who's twice the size of everyone else. =p They do their happy, greeting dance when I come in in the morning to do chores before feeding them, so I don't think it's tied to them getting food, just socialization.

Maybe interesting to let a newbie start up a tank, let him make mistakes and correct them. Everything is almost so obvious to you that you may no longer notice the rookie mistakes others make. Everything seems so easy once you have some experience. 😁

Honestly the way i was taught i use a test kit as a secondary way of telling whats up with the water. First i looks at the water and mostly smell it. You and tell amonia and nitrate levels by the smell. If something smells off i use the test kit

Thank you for everything I’ve learned a lot from you I’ve been watching you since your garage days I’ve had tanks since way back then and a lot of different generations of fish that I’ve raised and rescued but as of today everything is gone tanks and all my husband is going through a lot and he basically made me get rid of everything but maybe someday I’ll start over again so this is my last video and post I just can’t handle it so thank you so much for your knowledge and sharing your family 💕

I don't blame you. Especially with so many planted tanks to care for. Way back when I was into this sort of thing, I found my tank actually looked good about 1 week out of 4. Pruning and yanking out overgrown plants got to be a royal pain. Not why *I* quit though. No, that was when the heater in the tank failed, not by not coming on, but by sticking on like a stuck accelerator. It destroyed all the plants and 95% of the fish including some rasboras and German rams that were born in that tank.

I miss the plants in the Mabuna tank. You didn't have a lot before but I think it added a nice ambiance.
